The girls birthday weekend started off good, got really bad in the middle, and ended on a high note. Thursday the 14th was Bella's birthday. She woke up to balloons, flowers, donuts, and a present. She was so excited. She loved her Dora Mermaid. For her special day, she wanted to go to the movies, so off to The Lorax we went. We met Pam and Alyssa for lunch and they each got gifts. Thank goodness because Bella didn't really want to share her new Dora, and Madilyn was getting a little jealous.That afternoon, as we were getting ready for gymnastics, Madi complained of a sore throat. I blew it off because we were busy and she was just fine, but little did I know that was the beginning of misery for everyone!
Than evening, Madi had a hard time in gym and went to bed with a low grade fever. The next morning, we went to Target and stocked up on gatorade, cough drops and motrin. The girls layed on the couch all day and napped. By 11 am Bella was also running a fever. Great! their party was the next day and they were both sick.
I stayed up until 3am making their cake and putting everything together and at 5 am Bella was up with a fever and saying "My mouth hurts". I gave her some motrin and layed in bed with her. She slept off and on. That morning the girls stayed on the couch and by party time were fever free and feeling good, so I got them dolled up and off we went.
They did great at the party, though they did not eat much. Peter Piper was terrific and everyone seemed to be having fun. They got some really neat things. By the end, Bella was having a meltdown. She looked so tired and was saying "My mouth hurts". They both had fevers again, so we went to urgent care, and yep strep throat for both!! Saturday and Sunday night were pretty bad. A lot of fevers and pain and medicine. Poor girlies. Poor Bella was a wreck, and Madi had a stuffy nose and cough too. They finally went to sleep that night and were fever free.
Sunday was Madi's bithday and I had balloons, flowers, cinnamon rolls and presents for her too. She was excited to get a new bike with a unicorn on it and a La la loopsey house. We also saved Bella's big present for this day and she got a Leappad. They were feeling a little better, but Madi could not eat anything because it hurt too bad!. Again, more laying aroud. Daddy went to the gym and the girls started feeling better and were able to eat some soup. By the evening, they started to look and feel like themselves so we were able to have some fun. We went to Madagascar 3 and sushi!
